A stair has an elemental functional purpose, to connect two floors, it must respect a series of safety standards, always subject to diverse construction obligations, but it can become the architectural heart of a home and wood makes it throb with beauty, warmth and life.

The company

Escaliers FLIN began industrial operations in 1970 and today has 150 employees in its Languenan factory in Brittany: 30000 cubic meters covering an area of 4.2 hectare where they produce more than 1200 staircases per month, distributed primarily in France and exported to Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, as far as the Eastern countries of Europe. FLIN’s ingredients for success are: competence and traditional aesthetic taste; technical excellence, with a rigorous design and conformance to standards (FLIN represents France in the organization which assigns the definitions of the European rules); efficient industrialization and production.

FLIN offers a well-structured product in a number of standard models, completely parametricalized, together with completely personalized solutions, to provide high-level responses to every functional and aesthetic need, while respecting the architectural rules and safety standards. The company is particularly active in restoration, where it expresses to the maximum its own design and industrial ability, presenting itself to the customer as the most accurate and competent of craftsmen, with series production costs.

Why CMS

All the component-processing operations of FLIN stairs are carried out by 6 CMS machines. The last to enter into production, in 2006, was an AVANT PX5, used for the processing of stringers and curved pieces; in particular, the handrails. The principal characteristics that, starting from 2003, have oriented and confirmed over time the investment toward CMS numerically controlled technology are: solid mechanics, with a rigid structure that guarantees quality of work, precision and long life over time; machine reliability, that reduces down time for maintenance; the flexibility of use, that makes it possible to industrialize each project request. Over the years, a serious approach with customers and an accurate after sales service have shaped ANTB CMS-FRANCE, which operates in the French territories on behalf of CMS, in the role of an authentic business partner towards FLIN, with the responsibility for industrial consulting, and the ability to understand customer needs, to think and offer better suited solutions to satisfy their needs. This fruitful collaboration has contributed to achieve important results: by the purchase of the first machining center, FLIN succeeded in incrementing by 30% its overall production capacity, including both its standard production and customized products.
