Karat - Moving Table
The Karat Moving Table is the shining result of over 30 years of development and has been perfected as a versatile solution for woodworking manufacturers. The CMS Karat Moving Table machine was named based on the way a diamond or precious stone is cut. In the same way that a diamond or gem is cut with precision and care, the Karat Moving Table machines cut wood to tight tolerances. This wood CNC router is also known for its astounding flexibility and durability. We have successfully implemented the Karat Moving Table for a wide array of wood machining providers.
A main benefit of the Karat Moving Table machine is its flexibility through modularity. We offer many configurations of this machine which work for a variety of wood industry applications. Within these configurations are different table designs to choose from. For tooling diversity the Karat Moving Table comes complete with multiple spindles, 5 axis units, revolvers, devices with aggregates and various power capabilities.
Some additional Karat Moving Table customization possibilities:
- Single table
- Double table
- 4 table widths
- 4 different working heights
- Table direction options
- A wide array of 3 axis CNC router options as well as special 5 axis options
The Karat CNC router machine is not only versatile, it is also durable. The Karat Moving Table bridge was developed to provide tremendous support for a variety of operating units. The monobloc structure of the Karat Moving Table ensures rigidity and eliminates vulnerability to twisting during torsion. During machining of wood parts, acceleration and speed are supported by the Karat Moving Table with total control.
The safety features of the Karat Moving Table include a protective cabinet surrounding the outside of the assembly. Parts and fixtures of the Karat Moving Table are safely positioned out of the way of the operator which saves space and improves safety.
Karat - Machine
Karat - CMS’s jewel. The series of Fixed Bridge Machining Centers and the Karat mobile table, an evolution of CMS' prior generations of work, encompasses all the characteristics that distinguish CMS products: accuracy, reliability, sturdiness, high productivity, flexibility and technological innovation. The design modularity permits countless table versions and working strokes, which may be configured according to the requirements of each Customer.
Karat - fixed bridge, moving double table version with protection.
Karat shown with complete cabin protection, combined with the possibility of extracting the tables partially or totally, offers a very high safety level for the operator, protection against any part in motion, accessibility to the loading area and reduction of dust in the room.
Karat - double table with double independent revolvers
Karat shown in a double table version with two independent revolvers with ATC system, capable of working two parts simultaneously on one table or two different parts on each of the two tables using either vacuum fixtures or pods or waste board.
Karat shown with two independent 5 axes heads with ATC
Karat with 2 independent 5 axis heads both of which are capable of working on 2 parts on the same table or both tables at the same time or 2 different parts (one on each table) at the same time. Karat's double table configuration makes a non-stop, pendular, work cycle possible.
Karat – 3 axis CNC router – shown with multiple heads for high volume production.
A Karat shown with a number of heads doing 3 axis work for machining multiple parts at the same time using a vacuum table or fixtures for part holding and with a tool rack for each spindle to allow for automatic tool changing.
Karat showing double independent 5 axis RX4 spindles working bent plywood shells.
Another version of Karat showing a double independent RX4 head capable of working 2 identical parts at the same on the same table or on both tables or 2 different parts at the same time one on each table. In addition the RX4 (the fastest possible tool changing speed as a revolver with 4 positions and 1 of these with ATC capability) has additional tools available at either end of the bridge.
Karat showing CMS' famous R8 revolver in a double independent version.
A Karat cnc router showing CMS' unique R8 revolver (a revolver with 8 positions) providing for different power and RPM relationships between spindles, the use of even 4th axis aggregates on these positions, the R8's exceptional dust collection ability with its special revolver cover - even for work positioned above the table on a taller fixture, and most remarkably the fastest tool changing speed possible, since no time is lost in an ATC move. All of this in combination with a double independent revolver for work on 2 parts at the same time on one or both tables or two different parts on either table at the same time.
Karat used for automatic processing of large nested sheets with infeed and outfeed equipment.
A Karat for processing large sheet nesting work in a nonstop cycle with automatic infeed of sheets, automatic unloading of the parts in sheet form and a unloading rack for dunnage sheets with sheet alignment and additional dust collection abilities.
Karat - Structural features
Karat – 3 & 5 Axis Wood, CNC Router – Top Performance by design. The structural parts represent the foundation on which the unequalled performances of all CMS Machining Centers stand. Maximum care has been taken in the machine design phase and all of the best available state-of-the-art technology employed.
- Structural dimensioning through finite element computation programs (FEM).
- Optimization of strength/weight ratio.
- Accurate analysis at the planning stage of first resonance frequency. Normalizing by heat treatment of all structures.
Karat's fixed bridge design
Karat's fixed bridge structure is unique - taller and wider to provide stability and avoid torsion and twist problems with an internal honeycomb.
Karat's one piece bridge design.
Karat's bridge is designed to cover wide spans and support the working unit's weight.
Karat's special table design
Karat's table design was developed to avoid common engineering problems about where to place the support system for the table so as to avoid typical deflection problems.
Karat's table support structure
The Karat table support structure is designed to give solid support to working table and yet allow for various support systems to be placed as needed below the table.
Karat - protection with full extension of the table
Karat is designed to provide the option for full table extension outside the protection system to permit non-stop load/unload operations.
Karat carriage plates
The Karat carriage plate is specially designed for rigidity and strength, which cannot be achieved by just a simple plate.
Karat rack and pinion system
The Karat rack and pinion system provides control and precision over long distances and resists thermic impact on accuracy.
Karat - Heads/Features
This CNC wood router has been designed with the complete range of operating units. The KARAT series is available with all operating units that CMS has developed throughout its 30 years of experience, providing the right size and the right model for maximum flexibility. Here's you'll see just some of the many that are available.
R8 - CMS' 8 position revolver
The R8 is CMS' 8 position revolver allowing the choice of RPM versus power and the fastest tool changing speed possible. In addition the revolver can also come equipped with 2 opposing tool changing positions providing more tools to choose from…
R4 revolver with opposing tool changing positions.
This R4 revolver comes with 4 positions 2 of which are automatic tool changing positions. It provides even more tools to choose from and is still the fastest tool changer available.
